Breast Lift Before and After - Journey 8

01.05.24

A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape breasts that sit lower on the chest. This is achieved by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola higher on the chest wall.

These photographs are of a 42-year-old woman before and 5 months following bilateral breast lift surgery. Goals of surgery were to achieve a higher position on the chest for the breasts and remove excess loose skin, with the goal of minimal change to the breast size as possible and preservation of breast shape. In this case, just over 100g of skin and breast tissue was removed. Stiches used during this surgery sit under the skin and dissolve over a number of weeks with no need for removal. The scars that result from breast lift surgery are similar to those seen with breast reduction surgery and are often referred to as anchor scars due to their shape. Scars fade over time with maturation around 12-18 months.
