Breast implant removal surgery involves surgical removal of existing breast implants, generally through pre-existing scars or through a new incision on the breast.
This patient met with Dr Avery to discuss her surgical options relating to her breast implants, which were causing pain and discomfort due to implant rupture (right side) and their size. Although the implant size does not change, the natural breast tissue and skin as well as its position can change with time. Additionally, the scar tissue that develops around the breast implant can also change. These factors can impact breast symptoms and comfort over time. Following in-depth consultation with Dr Avery, surgery to remove both breast implants and a breast lift was chosen.
The implants were in the submuscular plane (under the muscle), 300cc, textured round implants.
Following the removal, a breast lift was performed to reposition the remaining breast tissue and nipple. The breast skin was tightened by removing excess skin and placed the breast (with the nipple and areola) in a higher position on the chest. The photographs of this female in her mid 50s were taken before surgery and 4 months after surgery. Other before and after photographs can be viewed on our website via the link in our bio.
