Abdominoplasty & Breast Lift Before and After - Journey 16

An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce excess loose skin, primarily from the lower part of the abdomen or stomach, as well as tightening the remaining skin. A breast lift (or mastopexy) is when excess skin is removed and breast tissue is reshaped to raise the breasts.

The clinical photographs shown are of a 49-year-old woman before and 5 months after abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and bilateral breast lift.

Dr Avery recommended a traditional abdominoplasty to remove the excess skin and tissue. Abdominoplasty surgery consists of the removal and tightening of the abdominal skin, removal of excess fat where appropriate and repositioning or tightening of the rectus abdominis muscles if needed. The extent of these three components is tailored to the individual requirements of the Avery patient.

During surgery Dr Avery removed 1717g from the lower abdomen. Excess skin and tissue were removed from the breasts whilst also lifting the nipple higher to achieve a lifted appearance. In cases where there is breast asymmetry, different amounts of skin and tissue can be removed to reduce or eliminate what may be problematic breast asymmetry.
