A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape breasts that sit lower on the chest. This is achieved by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola higher on the chest wall.
These clinical photographs are of a 35-year-old woman before surgery and 4 months after mastopexy (breast lift) surgery. This Avery patient’s goal was to reduce sagging (ptosis) of the breasts as well as correcting slight asymmetry.
The scars that result from breast lift surgery are similar to those seen with breast reduction surgery and are often referred to as anchor scars due to their shape. The nipple/areola were also repositioned higher on the breast, this contributes to an overall lifted appearance to the breasts. Scars will fade over time, with 12-18 months the typical time to scar maturation.
