Breast reduction surgery involves a combination of skin and breast tissue removal and reshaping. The surgery aims to reduce the size and weight of large breasts by lifting the breasts off the lower chest and upper abdomen. The objective is to leave the breasts smaller and lighter, sitting higher on the chest and closer to the body.
Below you can find the pre- and 4 month post-operative photos of a 61 year old woman who had breast reduction surgery. Breast reduction surgery can be performed on one or both breasts and the extent of surgery can be tailored to address breast asymmetry. 475g were removed from the right breast and 330g from the left breast, as well as over 100mL of fat from each breast using liposuction.
Liposuction may be used during breast reduction surgery as an additional tool often from the outer aspect of the breast as it blends into the area under the axilla and toward the back.
