Reduction mammoplasty (Breast reduction surgery) involves a combination of skin and breast tissue removal and reshaping. The surgery aims to reduce the size and weight of breasts by lifting the breasts off the lower chest and upper abdomen.
These clinical photographs are of before surgery and 4 months after reduction mammoplasty (breast reduction) surgery. Dr Avery removed 417g of skin and tissue from the left breast and 471g from the right breast. The surgical incisions resulted in a scar pattern described as an ‘anchor’, which is a common technique used for breast reduction and involves making incisions around the areola, down the midline of the breast and across the lower crease of the breast.
Considering Surgery
If you are thinking about surgery, the first step is a consultation with Dr Avery. This time provides an opportunity to:
- Discuss your motivations for surgery, your expectations and the questions you have
- Assess your health and medical history to ensure any surgery considered is suitable
- Discuss the options available to you
- Meet the team who will support you through your surgical journey
Every patient’s circumstances are different. Consultations are designed to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about whether surgery is right for you.
