Breast Augmentation Before and After - Journey 6

22.06.23

Breast augmentation surgery (or augmentation mammoplasty) is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size and volume of the breast and modify the breast shape by inserting implants beneath the breast tissue. This surgery will enlarge breasts that have always been small, but can also be used to fill out breasts that used to be larger.

Pre and 5 month post-operative photos of a 37-year-old woman having undergone a breast augmentation. The goals of surgery were: a natural, in proportion appearance to the breasts, and restoration of the appearance and fullness of the breasts that was present prior to having children. The implants were inserted using an incision in the lower breast crease (infra-mammary fold). Textured, 390cc anatomic (or tear drop shaped) implants were placed partially under the muscle using a technique referred to as dual plane. The dual plane technique individualises the amount of muscle covering the implant and the amount of the breast tissue that is in contact with the implant to influence shape, which is particularly relevant when restoring fullness to a breast that may have loose skin.
