Augmentation mammoplasty (breast augmentation surgery) is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size and volume of the breast and modify the breast shape by inserting implants beneath the breast tissue.

These pictures were taken before and 6 months after augmentation mammoplasty (breast augmentation) surgery. Anatomic (tear drop) 390cc silicone gel implants were placed in the sub-fascial plane.

Considering Surgery
If you are thinking about surgery, the first step is a consultation with Dr Avery. This time provides an opportunity to:

  • Discuss your motivations for surgery, your expectations and the questions you have
  • Assess your health and medical history to ensure any surgery considered is suitable
  • Discuss the options available to you
  • Meet the team who will support you through your surgical journey

Every patient’s circumstances are different. Consultations are designed to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about whether surgery is right for you.

Cosmetic surgery is only one option available to individuals considering a change to their appearance. It may not be suitable for everyone. All surgical procedures carry risks, including potential complications, variable recovery experiences, and unpredictable outcomes. The results of any surgery are influenced by a range of individual factors, such as genetics, medical history, lifestyle, diet, and adherence to post-operative care. Please view the link for information on risks and recovery associated with the surgery you are considering.

Recovery requires appropriate time, support, and aftercare, and may include discomfort, absence from work, and temporary restrictions on daily activities. Experiences of pain, healing timelines, and outcomes differ greatly between individuals.

No advertising content should be interpreted as suggesting surgery is needed to fix normal features or changes such as ageing or post-pregnancy body changes. We do not support terminology that implies a feature is problematic.

Before making any decisions, it is essential to have a thorough consultation with an appropriately qualified health practitioner, such as a Plastic Surgeon. We also recommend seeking a second opinion before proceeding.

Plastic Surgeon is a regulated term that can only be used by surgeons who have completed specialty training within plastic surgery and are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). The specialty training undertaken by Plastic Surgeons includes the surgical skills required for excellence in aesthetic surgery.
