Abdominoplasty Before and After - Journey 16

An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce excess loose skin, primarily from the lower part of the abdomen or stomach, as well as tightening the remaining skin.

This 39-year-old woman came to Avery with concerns about excess lower abdominal skin and tissue, which made exercise difficult due to the heat generated by the additional tissue and overlapping skin contributing to irritated skin and rashes. She had lost 20 kg and maintained this loss over time.

The beneficial aspects of her weight loss were offset by the excess skin that persisted and also contributed to limitations and restrictions with clothing choices.

Dr Avery completed an abdominoplasty with 1955g of skin and tissue removed from the lower abdomen, 850mL of fat removed with liposuction to optimise the remaining contour and also repair of supra-umbilical rectus abdominis divarication (muscle separation).

These clinical photos were taken prior to surgery and at 4-months after surgery, with scar maturation expected around 12-18 months. This Avery patient reported activity being easier and the added bonus of clothes shopping also being easier and more enjoyable.
