HALO(TM) – is the hybrid treatment or the non-ablative version better for me?

When people think of HALO they think of ablation.  However, HALO can do so much more than only resurfacing the skin.

HALO is a hybrid laser with 1470nm wavelength for coagulation and the 2940 nm wavelength for ablation. This means the wavelengths can be used together (HALO Pro) or the 1470nm wavelength can be used on its own (HALO).

Skin concerns that indicate using the 1470nm wavelength on its own (HALO):

  • Lighter skins with
  • Deep pigment that is difficult to treat because of its depth – once closer to the surface it can be treated
  • Dropping or sagging in lower half of the face
  • Loss of volume in lower half of face
  • Skin texture is ok

Skin concerns that indicate using both wavelengths together (HALO Pro):

  • Skin texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines
  • Dropping or sagging; or loss of volume in lower half of the face
  • Some deeper pigment you also want to bring to the surface to clear later

HALO Pro is a more aggressive treatment because the non-ablative and ablative wavelengths are being combined in a single treatment. Both the HALO and HALO Pro treatments will feel like a 9/10 sunburn immediately after the treatment and for a few hours post treatment. However, the combined wavelength or hybrid treatment has a longer downtime attached due to the extra component of epidermis resurfacing the ablative wavelength enables.
