A breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape breasts that sit lower on the chest. This is achieved by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola higher on the chest wall.
These clinical photographs show this 37-year-old Avery patient before and 6 months after breast lift surgery (also known as mastopexy). She had previously had a breast reduction surgery to reduce heavy symptomatic breasts. Through lifestyle changes she has since lost over 30kgs since then.
The goals of surgery were to restore a higher position of the breast and remove excess loose skin with as little change to the breast size as possible, while also preserving breast shape.
The scars that result from breast lift surgery are like those seen with breast reduction surgery and are often referred to as anchor scars due to their shape. Scars will fade over time, with 12 months or more the typical time required for full maturation. Scar optimisation strategies are recommended.
