Brachioplasty Before and After - Journey 2

An arm lift or brachioplasty describes a surgical procedure which removes unwanted loose skin and fat from the upper arm, commonly from the level of the inner aspect of the elbow to the axillae (armpit). This surgery may be considered if you have lost significant weight and have loose hanging skin on the upper inner arm.

These are the pre and post-operative (4 months after surgery) photos of a 49-year-old woman who had an arm lift or arm reduction, also known as a brachioplasty.

This patient was particularly troubled with the disproportionate size of the upper arm relative to her chest and body that created issues with clothing choices, specifically the clothing required for her profession.

This surgery was performed using a combination of liposuction and skin removal and resulted in a typical scar approximately from the armpit to the elbow along the inner aspect of the arm, which is typical for this type of operation.

Scars will fade over time, with 12 months or more the typical time required for scars to fade to their best. This type of surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic with an overnight hospital stay.
