An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce excess loose skin, primarily from the lower part of the abdomen or stomach, as well as tightening the remaining skin. Breast reduction surgery involves a combination of skin and breast tissue removal and reshaping. The surgery aims to reduce the size and weight of large breasts by lifting the breasts off the lower chest and upper abdomen. The objective is to leave the breasts smaller and lighter, sitting higher on the chest and closer to the body.

Dr Avery met with this 50-year-old woman to discuss her options to address her concerns with large heavy breasts and excess abdominal skin following significant weight loss.

A combined abdominoplasty and bilateral breast reduction surgery was chosen following this collaborative consultation with Dr Avery.

During surgery, 1415g of skin and tissue was removed from the lower abdomen with an additional 500ml of fat removed via liposuction. Dr Avery removed 386g of skin and tissue from the right breast and 487g from the left breast thus addressing mild breast asymmetry.

These clinical photos show this Avery patient before her surgery and 4 months after. Further scar maturation and swelling reduction with continue for 12-18 months following surgery. Scar optimisation strategies are recommended.
